Quote of the Week

"If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way" ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Your prayers, thoughts and advice are requested by Brigette

This has been a particularly painful week for our family.

After a prolonged series of outbursts, threats, shoving, and verbal abuse that led to 4 CACTIS visits, school interventions, psych. evaluations, wrap around services, and finally, a police visit, Francois and I made a decision. We decided to have our yougest son, Serge, age 14, admitted to a local psychiatric hospital. We don't know how long he will be there or if he will need further treatment at a DAS program. All we know right now is that things feel very, very dark. On Saturday, we will go to visit Serge and from there we will visit Pierre, our oldest son, who is in placement for drugs.

This is not the kind of family life any of us ever imagine when we are holding our babies and envisioning their future. And yet, here we are, facing some of the most difficult decisions we could imagine. We ask for your prayers, thoughts, advice, whatever. We hope we can find the wisdom to make the right decisions for our boys and the strength to help see them through. Then we need to stand back up, brush ourselves off, and keep going.

Dear Brigette,
I am thinking about you and praying that you and Francios find the strength that you need to make it through this dark period in your life. I know that both of you will work together and do what is best for all involved.
We are all going to have a lot to talk about at the next PSST meeting.
Cisco is having issues and Rocco and I are detaching with love....

Brigitte,

Everyone is safe right now - that is a blessing & hopefully a comfort.

I've heard that God never gives us more tribulations than we can handle, but sometimes I wish He didn't have such a high opinion of us! :-)

We live close to you & only a phone call away - let us know if we can help.

We have walked in these very very worn out shoes. Listen to the professionals involved. Go home and think about the info & decisions you need to make and SLEEP ON IT before making a final decision.
At 14 he is considered an adult in mental health field. I hope your son has signed all medical release and privacy policy notices necessary for you to be included in his mental health care while in-patient.
Mental health issues are not CURED over night just like addiction is not a 3 day virus. It is a life long issue...compare it to juvenile diabetes...take your time...be patient...most importantly-make sure your son FEELS the unconditional love he has from his wonderful parents.
Your family is in our daily thoughts and prayers.

Brigitte and Francois,

Ditto to all of the above comments.

We have been through the pysch hospital and DAS program with Bam Bam-2 psych hospital stays. I am planning on being at the next PSST meeting if you have any questions about where and which programs Bam has been in.

If you cannot make it to the meeting and would like to talk you can e-mail me at
mbwnov06@gmail.com.

We are going through a lot with Bam Bam right now and will need extra help on Saturday with his upcoming court hearing the day after Easter.

You are in my thoughts and prayers and please do not hesitate to call for ANYTHING.

Brigitte,
Thank you for letting us know what is going on in your family. We all love you and support you and feel your pain. We have been through the trials of 2 boys and their issues of mental health and adiction. You will come out of this dark tunnel and see the light again. Stay strong as a couple and be there for each other. There is a song out now by Kelly Clarksion that helps me be strong when I want to cave. The line in the song is "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger". Ralph and I are praying for you and your family. Stay strong, your doing the right thing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sometimes its darkest before the dawn- perhaps your family is about to embark on a new chapter that where every family member is stronger for all that you have been through. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thank you everyone for your support. Sometimes all that's needed is to hear from other parents who can understand your situation and who don't immediately launch into "advisor" role. Lloyd, I'm encouraged by your suggestion that we may be embarking on a new chapter. I feel that's true, although it may be a few more pages until we get through this one. :-)
