Quote of the Week

"If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way" ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

A Friendly Reminder
Posted by:Sally--Thursday, November 15, 2012

I just wanted to share with you something new I started to do. Of course, I miss Cisco so much and think of him often. I have  many good memories of him for he was such a dear son and so  much more than a man with an addiction.

When my thoughts turn to sadness I quickly think of my other son, Joe, because I am grateful to have him. If it is feasible, I send Joe a quick text or email or phone him at that time. If it is not possible to contact Joe I do something nice for someone else whom I am grateful for.

It is important and therapeutic to be grateful. May we all remember to be thankful for our bountiful gifts, especially in this holiday season.

Thanks for sharing this. It's so easy to focus on what we don't have instead of what we do have.

You and Rocco have been very strong. It was not all that long ago that you lost precious Cisco. He was very special and certainly one of a kind.

Time will never erase your pain but I can speak from experience with our loss here, that time does ease the pain. With time it becomes easier to reflect fondly on memories.

We also strive to keep the memory of our loved one alive, even as we could not keep him alive. It's as though we do not want the pain to lessen because we don't want to forget anything or any part of our loved one.

I am so sad for you. I know brighter days are ahead but they sort of take their good ole time about getting here. You are in so many of our hearts...

Sally you show us the way. You set the example. If you can focus on gratitude then how can we not do the same?

Thank you for sharing that Sally. We missed you at the meeting today, but Rocco gave us an update. I was amazed to hear that you have hosted several dinners for Cisco's friends and that you have been teaching one of them how to cook! You are both a great inspiration in how to live life graciously.
